It's past time for the US to a standardized voting system - and use something that is reliable, verifiable, and user-friendly.
I remember a few years back (oh those hanging chads) when one of the talking heazds on CNN, incredulous over the recount, kept saying how Canada used paper ballots and managed to get the votes counted by the end of the night - and the results could be verified.
From what I understand, the use of paper ballots in the US would be very difficult as many electoral regions also add a slew of plebiscites to each ballot. This also severely slows down voting (assuming you read them).
Yeah... they could use an update. So can Canada mind you. So many people don't vote because they can't get to polls, but this may soon change with the possibility of online voting in the next or second-next election.
